It is with very sad hearts that we announce the death of our beloved father, Sebastian ‘’Sid’’ Mollinger, on December 25th, 2020, at the age of 92. Born in Kirchberg, Tirol, Austria in 1928, he immigrated to Canada in 1955. Here he raised his family with his beloved wife Roswith.
He will be lovingly remembered as ‘Dad’, ‘Dadio’, ‘Vati’ by his children Susan (Don), Walter, Karin (Michel) and as ‘Opa’ by his grandchildren Jennifer (Neal), Mark (Corinne), Cailey, Sophie (David), Alex (Stéphanie) and his great grandchildren Riley, Cheyenne, Emily, Phoenix and Storm.
He was a man who loved life. He played tennis and chess for many years. He loved music. However, he especially loved children. He was sometimes strict with his own children and a bit more indulgent with his grandchildren, but his face would light up whenever he had the opportunity to ‘run around’ with his kids and continued to do so with his great grandchildren.
Due to the pandemic, there will unfortunately be no funeral. The family will get together for the burial next summer, circumstances permitting. A part of his ashes will be returned to his homeland and strewn in the Austrian Alps.
We wish to thank the team at the Evergreen Place residence for their attentive care of our father since May 2018. And our thanks also go out to the team at the Lakeshore General Hospital, 4 West, for their heroic work in caring for all hospital patients, and especially for our father in his last two weeks.
